all i got to say is Ford works smarter not harder...we all bought mustangs because they have their own appeal and yes they do have hp. how you guys gonna use it is the question? plus all mustang owners mod their stang anyway they keep it cheap to help us out they brought the SRA back and everything.

we can do this again just like we have don with previous gens. of stangs make them ours personally.

The camero is too fat. its like a Lardo trying to pole vault...im not worried one bit

VIVA LA STANG!
So what your saying is the 03 and up Cobras are fat lard boat anchors trying to pole vault, becuase those cars have a bit of weight on them too. Oh wait those cars weren't fast were they.

I hate it when people talk out of their ****.

First, it's 400 with the base SS, secondly with a 10.7 compression ratio, good luck getting much more tha 5-8psi into that motor before either bringing the compression down or doing some serious work on the inside of it to support anymore. Iron liners or not. Not to mention it's already required to run premium fuel because of the compression ratio so even if you squeeze more PSI into the motor you'll have to trim your timing back so far it won't be worth it.

I don't know where you live but GT500's list at 42K not 50K. If you want to take into account Market Markup then the camaro will also be suceptible to that just like the GTO was and just like the Challenger is. Good luck finding a camaro at MSRP

Last item, Have you not been watching the news lately? GM and Chrysler both are on all fours begging for money to keep them floating. Ford is too but not nearly as bad as either of those two, why? Because they (ford) makes cars that appeal to the masses, not gear heads. A gear head will buy a Stock car mod it, it doesn't matter how fast it is from the factory. That's what the camaro is aiming at, that small group of people that want the fastest and don't care about the history/heritage, are looking for a weekender and have disposable income. Notice how quickly that market segment imploded this last month? Notice how the GT500 is not selling nearly as well as it was? That's the camaro in a couple of years.
I hate when people talk out of their **** also. The 1SS optioned Camaro is MSRP $30,999.99. In that option you get the ls3 422hp motor with 6spd trans 20inch wheels and IRS. If you want the automatic you have to get the l99 motor which is 400hp because it has displacement on demand. The auto l99 option will run more than the 422hp ls3 6spd base SS option. A ls3 with 8psi of superchaged or turbocharged boost will have over 600+ reliable hp all day long. None of this is opinion because of what the vette is already doing. You can check the pricing and option group on the Camaro website. I am biased and am not going to get a Camaro, but these are the cold hard facts.

You seem to spin your "cold hard facts," in favor of Chevy. What does adding 8 pounds of boost to a Camaro have to do with this? If you bought a Camaro SS and then S/C or T/C it, it would be in GT500 territory which can make 6xx hp with only 1k of mods.

Bottom line is you will not be getting a SS anywhere around 31k for a long while. You go to the dealership with hopes of that and you will find that;

a. they will have more options then you would like
b. they will have a significant dealer markup

I bet when the SS comes out dealers will be trying to sell them for MORE then a current GT500, which can be had for just over $40k these days.

Depends on what you mean by a "long while". You can get Challengers now, a year after their intro, for MSRP. Not to mention the fact that there will probably not be a lot in the way of deals on these 2010 mustangs. Good chance they will be over MSRP for a while.

The key to all this is that being able to get these new muscle rides for MSRP (or less) typically is a sign of the cars not selling. If you can't touch a new SS, or GT, or R/T, without a few grand worth of markups.......it's a sign that the cars are selling very well. So it's a catch 22.........you can hope your favorite of the three is unpopular and doesn't sell for s**t so you can get one cheap; or you can cheer for it to squash the competition in sales and wind up having to offer up your first born to get one into your garage. Kinda sucks either way.

The Challenger birthed into the market right at the height of the gas price bubble.....which kind of killed sales. It will be interesting to see how well the market accepts the upcoming Camaro. I think the new Mustang will do well relatively speaking...but I don't expect there to be the rushing demand for it that we saw back when the 05's first arrived. But as a potential future buyer, I'm kinda happy about that.

@#*$#....its starting to look more and more like that 350z body style.

Wtf is up with ford on that rear end. WE WANT HARD MUSCLE CAR LINES....

Idk...i'm extremely disappointed, the only thing i like is the hood and the new air vents...i'd rather have a used 05...

way to go ford...complete disappointment.
And offering a s/c doesnt mean jack. you can s/c any car and if you do it right, you dont need that warranty.

agh....

/rage.

I don't like it at all.

It looks like it should have been the previous model to the S197 and then they got it right with the S197.

I'll hang on to my 08 GT thank you very much.

They better offer some type of supercharger option or something. 315 horsepower?? I'm a die hard Mustang fan, and will be until the day I die. However it's hard for me to root for a car that has at least a 100 horsepower deficit to the Camaro. Of course who knows, if GM goes bankrupt then maybe there won't even be a Chevrolet brand to compete with....
