2010 Revealed
What kills me is they mentioned Power Packs that will/are available for the new 2010...HELLO PEOPLE Ford has been offering Power packs for the 05-09 for years. No one bothered to look at them because the aftermarket has done a better job IMO of offering more choices and better support. I hope Ford takes that into account and keeps the FULL OEM warranty IF you decide to have a Power Pack added to your new ride instead of sticking you with a 12/12,000 on the FRPP parts like they currently do. As for 400HP and 500Hp packs, Whipple and Saleen both offer similar "kits"
Yeah I dont think there is any reason for me to upgrade to a new 2010 gt over my 2006. The great thing is if you are willing to sell your 05-09 stang there will be a lot of demand. If I didnt have a stang I would buy a used 05-09 over the 2010 because its similar and it will be way cheaper. We should all wait and see how The Big 3 make it through the year before we spend anymore money with them.
My lady & I are seeing things differently on this one. I know Ford made the 2010 look 'modern', from the design cues to the materials(at least in pictures), the new Mustang looks smoother and more refined(kind the opposite from when Ford went from the smooth original SN-95 to the 'New Edge' cars in '99). The car seems 'newer' and 'smoother' yet IMO busier. It needs to grow on me, but the VW-ish interior and gimmicks that appeal to the under 25 crowd, SYNC, back-up camera(on a Mustang!), voice activated nav system and dual climate control(in a very small interior-ed car!). I just would hate to see what a loaded up '10 GT weighs in at(think that 15hp is gonna help?). I think the '05-'09 will be the '69-'70 models compared to the '10 being the '71-'73 cars in the future IMHO. With the new engine calibrations, I'm sure the gains seen on a CAI/Tune install won't be as much as on the '05-'09s as the engine is fundamentally unchanged(other than the state of tune). Heavier car, same hp potential as the earlier models & no major changes other than the shape and the 're-tuning' the suspension and engine, Ford will sell quite a few(for the car's 'newness' factor), then it'll die down as demand is met. Lots of used '1st gen' S197s will be had at a bargain! I hope the 'boss' doesn't suggest I trade my baby for a new one

I'm kinda digging the door panels and steering wheel. I wonder if those panels will bolt up to my 06 doors?
Took another look and still don't like the back. The front is just so, so and the antenna on the back fender is just stupid! Why not delete the antenna all together.
Doesn't matter if they go out of business though.

The interior is beautiful. The front and sides are nice. The back SUCKS!
I prefer the look of the 05-09, but LOL at the dumbasses claiming that a base mustang GT is over $30K. What kind of crack are you smoking? I walked out of the dealership with mine for less than $26K, and it had every option except for Shaker 1000. The new Camaro is great, but it will never be priced with the mustang.
And to whoever said that the 300hp V6 Camaro will have comparable insurance rates to the 210hp V6 Mustang, you are dead wrong. I've worked in the insurance industry. The V6 crosses two major HP barriers that insurance carriers use to calculate rate premiums: 250hp and 300hp. The camaro will likely cost twice as much to insure for younger drivers.
They're both nice cars. Chevy needs to fix the ugly front end of the '10 camaro and ford needs to fix the ugly rear end of the '10 mustang.

I would hang around guys and not spend any money on any model until all the cards are on the table.
Something doesnt seem right, about releasing this car early for one, two- having a low HP rating and then mention a Dealer Installed and Warrantied Upgrade Package.
Third, FRPP comes up out the blue with a solution, when the solution is at the factory.
Those teasers were that of a child's game, and this is not a child's game, its an American Muscle Car. I dont see the red, white and blue anymore on the stang either, at least that's gone, it shouldnt be there.
Alot of free things at the Manufacturing Plant of your motor could have been done to up the power naturally as well.
Once the cards are all laid out, then make your choices. Ford Gambles on Interior and Exterior, GM and Chrysler gambles with more power and BOLD BRUTE LOOKS.
It appears this Mustang was made for the younger crowd and the older"younger crowd" lol, which are the majority of buyers. And despite being uderpowered, they will sell.

Back end is awful. Interior is a big improvement IMO. Front is a wash - and the hood is a little meaner. Still has a pretty good gap from tire to fender coming from the factory - so lowering kits will still be a popular option.
I'm waiting for 2011 or higher and the 5.0.

VERY NICE! I like the design cues much better. Actually, it seems that they integrated a lot of changes into the car that we commonly make on this forum. I suspect that FORD is watching us!!
common changes we make that are now included:
- ducktail like spoiler
- mirror covers
- 19" rims on the GT (larger rims)
- more exaggerated hood
- more aggressive lines (usually done via body kit) on sides
- front leaning design - similar to Cervini kit
- antenna removed from back / shorter antenna placed in rear
- refined cockpit, with softer materials (looks more upscale)
- led sequential taillights!!
refined benefits:
- increased power to weight ratio
- re-tuned suspension, although rear is still not independent
- three mode traction control: on, off, sport mode
- is 350+ pounds less than Cameo / 500+ to Challenger
- capless fuel filler (and they fixed the gas shut-off problem a lot of us had)
where it lacks:
- engine (we all know this) / hp rating @ 315
- only mods were intake and exhaust to get this rating
- suspension. i am not a drag racer so I would like to see independent rear
I think all of the new benefits are great, and will buy this car at some point. Slap on a FRRP supercharger and there we go... I miss my 06' stang dearly!
