yeah? i used t taps how is that bad? What would you have done?
Solder and heat-shrink.

That's not exactly what I'd call a "hack" job. How is that a "nightmare" for a new owner?
It's 4 clips. I didn't use clips myself....I took an exacto blade and stripped some insulation off the wires, then soldered and taped. I'm sure it's much easier to undo clips than solder if you wanted to uninstall them. If I would've had the clips...I would've used them. Much easier and quicker to install. Besides if I ever sell her...I'm talking all my **** off.
No it doesn't work that way, you don't just "pull off" those wire taps. They will eventually fail, and will compromise the wire and can be dangerous.

Was thinking the same thing. Is that really necessary, the fact of the matter is people do things differently it doesn't mean it's right or wrong. Geez.

Not to be negitive...however:
1) those connections WILL fail
2) if you have time to do it over, you've got time to do it right
3) solder and shrink tube
I really like the lighting. Good layout and effect.

Strip, crimp, solder and adhesive lined heatshrink like OEM.
Then document it in your S197 Workshop Electrical Diagrams
for the next owner to figure out what electrical mods have
been made.

IDC connectors displace (slice) the insulation and create
a weak spot where one did not exist. Now only the wire
strands are supporting the insulation covered wires.
Mechanical falure is a given over time in an automotive
enviroment. Plus one must use the CORRECT IDC connector
for the guage of wire being tapped. The one size fits many
wire guages approach that the connector manufacturers use
makes the use of an IDC connector even worse.

I think the key word here is 'grandpa'
