anyone running 295/45-18
#42
I would love a taller 18" tire for looks with my big wheel welled Mustang.
The dis advantages would be slower acceleration from the slower rotation of the rear tire(like taller gears) and it raises the center of gravity by .6" on the rear of the car as opposed to the typical 285/40/18 at 26.98" height.
Could any one who actually is currently running these tires in back please comment on the possible negative aspects of the taller tire, or are they minimal dis advantages?? Thank you, Erik

lovely stance... wide rear wheels change the entire look
Arent you able to run up to a 305/40 (or 35) on 10" rear wheels? I hand measured my rear wheels and they were at least 11", strange how it's so much different... I run 285/40 on these 10" rears and its a fairly flat sidewall

Having said that, they look great on a stock suspension and fill the gaps nicely along with providing awesome grip for everyday driving. The increased rake produced from the taller tire my provoke the need for the rear springs to be switched out with roush or ford racing springs which I will be attempting next spring to bring the *** down about an inch to level her out.
My plan was to swap the gear out to a 3.73 or 4.10 (haven't made up my mind yet) which should help out of the hole performance. With a 4.10 your effective gearing would be 3.90ish which I have heard from others is about the perfect gearing for a non sc'ed a/t with light modding. With these shorter gears the extra grip provided by the 295 should come in handy.
Gas milage has not been effected with this setup.
