Are you guys serious? A blown GT only has a "slight" edge on a "stock" terminator?

I had no idea the s197 was such a slow land yacht. What a step backwards Ford took.

What a tough choice! In the past I had often thought about selling my 05 GT for a termi but then when I look at my stang sitting in the garage looking so dang pretty I just can't do it. I love the power the cobra's make but the looks just don't compare in my department.

Considering yours is modded im sure the resale value on your car is more than a stock termi.. if you were still stock id say it is worth a straight up trade... you can find termis with 45k miles on them for 15k on autotrader and elsewhere. at 22k miles its more like 20k.. and that is the same as a stock no options 2008 gt.

I think everyone who claims resale value on a cobra will go up is a crack smoker... the cars that have gained value in the past have been the best looking cars from their decade.. not just based on their engine. a GT500 I have no doubt will be collectible.. even if the mustang II was amazingly fast nobody will collect it because its ugly compared to the rest of the mustang years.

don't buy the cobra to collect it.. honestly.. I'd keep your car, whipple it (it will be faster than the stock termi by far at that point) eventually put a built block in it... get it to over 600rwhp.... and a whipple is about 6k.. a built block is about 5-6k.. not a huge expense to have a better looking car..

the other option is don't collect the cobra.. throw a better blower on it and some other upgrades and be in the hole for a little less than the built GT would be but not look as good.. probably be a bit faster though

I don't think the Cobras look worse than the S197. In fact, from a few angles, the S197 looks very plain and unattractive. I think the Cobras look sleek and fast.

They can't be serious because that statement is not true.

Ok, let's take a snap from the Cobra mystique... It's a FOX platform with IRS for god's sake and the tire lifting pic had a solid axle conversion no doubt and that's not really relevent on a driver car.

The new edge cobra is a forged assembly whereas the 3V is not.

The interior of the S197 is much better, I've driven an 01 bullitt and it sucked.

Front suspension is superior on the S197.

The S197 looks better and can perform much better with an aluminator 5L engine rebuild.

If you just want to go fast trade your car, get you a termi and run it out.

If you want something that a 5.4 will fit into later in life keep your S197

FWIW

The curb weight of an 04 cobra is pushing 3600 pounds. It's actually heavier than an s197.
