In negotiations for used 428R...advice?
Dude, buying a car that is 3/4 your yearly earnings is not a very smart thing to do.... especially in this economic climate!
Think about it, you're putting all that money into a depreciating asset... that's crazy.
If you're completely sure you can sell your car for $24k then do it. You'll pocket $9k and be able to put a decent payment down...

screw the economy... your a fire fighter.. dont see them goin out of work soon as they are a government necessity. (thats why you dont pay for the fire department)
anyways bro unless your getting the deal you want.... walk..... simple as that

I would sell it privately and try to make some money on it, and then negotiate with them as best you can and throw the money made on the private sale as a down payment...you'll probably end up paying less money per month
mike, your car is looking sick right now. You can't get rid of it, you just installed the new overflow tank! If you really want it and can afford it, go for it. You only live once, right? I just can't imagine someone else driving your car. It's so you!
If you decide to sell some parts off of her, let me know
But honestly, just give them a price your willing to pay, if they won't match it walk. You'll either get a call within the next few days, or you'll keep the car you've got now. If it were me though I'd keep what you've got...

I hate to be the uppity bastard to suggest this..., but for ~$14,000, couldn't you do a tranny swap and a supercharger install on that beauty you have now? You'd net out a $4000-$6000 savings vs buying the 428R.
Granted, buying a rare edition car is worth a certain sum of money for sure. Re-examine your true motivations behind your interest in the 428R, and let your gut lead the way.

+1 on if they dont give you what you want just walk. I mean look at your car its not like you be going back to a beater or anything lol. I like the look of your ride better then any other roush I have seen so far, only thing I feel you on is the manual tranny.
Wich blower does this car come with also? is it the new tvs blower or just the regular roush charger? That would be a huge decider for me aswell.

I know this because I'm a City Firefighter Up here above the Mason Dixon line, there is a lot more to it then what the public sees. A ton of politics, unfortunatly. Hey Onf1r, Local 463, where you at?
On the Roush Note, Dealer here in town, has a 427R in the showroom for over a year now, even offered 0% on it while Ford had that deal going...........it's still there. Pretty sweet too, I inquired about it, they offered me 18 for mine in a trade. That was last year, I laughed and walked out. It's still sitting there, and I'd imagine will be for the forseeable future.
