Well I'm in with the young guns as well at 19.
I can always remember seeing mustangs around as a younger kid but was never impressed with the 90's models. My aunt had one during that time but I never could really fall for it. I can remember when I saw eleanor in gone in 60 seconds for the first time. Its the garage scene where you can see the rear end and he is talking to her. From that moment on I fell in love with the 60's series mustangs. I was somewhere around twelve years old and when 16 started to roll around I began the search. I can only remember ever finding 2 67 fastbacks. At the the time I did not have the money to buy a car and could only bring my dad cars that I had found. He had a 66 and was dead convinced that I was going to kill myself if I had one. I remember finding many old mustangs for under 10k. It about killed me when my dad came home with my first car. It was a 2000 chevy Xtreme, he spent 12K on it. But hey beggars can't be choosers right. Even after I had my first car I always kept my eye out for a 67 fastback in papers and online. But I remember the commercial that turned me on to the s197. I want to say it was a superbowl one but I'm not sure. It's the one where the s197 is revving its engine and playing the national anthem. I was sold right then and there. So about three months ago I traded in my truck and picked up an 05 v6, mineral grey.

Wow,, I think all the reasons have been stated alot more articulately than I can.. but as another old timer ( 54 ) I have to add. I owned my first Mustang in '70. It was a '68 fastback, 289 2bbl.. and a 3 speed manual. Of course I upgraded to a 4spd. and a few other mods.. but to make a long story short...college.. kids.. carrer..Subarus,Nissans, Taurus's, etc.. all the responsible cars for Dad. Of course I "almost" bought the '94GT, the 2002, even came close to the last SHO ( did'nt want an auto.). Now,,, NO MORE EXCUSES... and I can go on and on but its all be said! Oh,, I have an '08 GT, dark candy apple red, 3.55 rear, 5 spd... etc.. and loving every visceral minute
