At that point, the weight of the top is now leaning forward on itself, the motor has less resistance then.

I notice the motor for the top makes a high-pitched noise just as it gets within a couple inches of the windshield. Anybody else hear that?

Getting home from work at 2 am should be illegal...
Something I noticed a while back. While driving on the interstate during a rain shower, I noticed the water cascading down the rear window... and it was moving diagnally down and towards the driver side... I have had cars that leave a calm spot on the rear window at high speed, (my WRX does this), but never seen water move to one side... anyone else notice this???

Z-GT....
My top clears everything in my garage just fine.
A neighbor of mine has an orginal Oldsmobile 442 convertible that he got new. It has it's orginal top and it looks GREAT... Bottom line!.. take care of it! Convertible toops are like teeth... Ignore it and it will go away.
Extended Down Time.. well.. Mine was down for 20 days stright... all I had to do was show a little patience while it streatched out the first time I put it up. After that first time I haven't had a single problem. I routinely leave mine down over night every now and again.
If you leave it down for extended periods - it will "Wrinkle".. but all it has to do is set in the sun a while and all the wrinkles go away.
Mine is a daily driver... Garaged at night and on an open parking lot during the day.

Just checking in. Red Fire v6 Vert here. Already removed my mustang side stripes and I still love the car. I have had my vert since mid April now and it hasn't been rained on once... yes I drive it.
Just another one chiming in... I have a townhouse, so the garage is probably a little on the small side. Still, top goes up and down no problem.
Any idea how long these motors are supposed to last? I've never had an electric top before, so I have no idea.

I am wanting a GT Vert and this will be my first convertible of any type. I was concerned about how the soft top will look several years down the road. I've seen lots of older verts whose tops look really bad, especially on Jeeps, but also on other vehicles.

I just realized that, counting my wife's '93 Mustang, the '05 is my fifth convertible.

Sorry Herk, I've never actually driven mine in the rain. Not bad for a guy whose had his car since April and lives in the Midwest! I'll watch out for this and let you know.

i think it has more resistance... if there was less resistance the cover would just drop. but the motor holds on to the cover all the way thru so i anticipate some sorta strain. otherwise you couldnt stop the top in mid movement

I had a '99 Volvo C70 with a camel colored top that came from Florida originally and it had permananet wrinkels in the top. I tried leaving it out in the sun, and all types of cleaners and I was never able to get the wrinkles to go away. This will be my first new convertible and I plan on taking very good care of it. The car is not coming out of the garage unles it's dry outside.
