I've been looking into engine options for a bit now. The best ones to me from a performance standpoint looked to be the option of getting forged internals for the 4.6 aluminum block, for a forced induction application. Honestly I don't see the need to go up to the 5.4 Cast Iron block, that's a lot of weight you will be adding to the front end.

Go all out, get the Ford GT 5.4 Aluminum block. Now they are making them machined for wet oil sump applications and for the proper starter. (I think these are $7000, so just kidding)

But I think if you picked up a forged shortblock and some good heads from a place like www.livernoismotorsports.com and toss a supercharger on you got a serious machine. As much power as a Gt500 but several hundred pounds lighter.
