I couldn't have said it better myself. Another influence is going to be the future designs of cars in the future. If they all lack ambition in styling like most of the current cars we have today, then i'm pretty sure they will be.

It's a combination of :

age of car
quantity of prospective buyers/collectors
and style of car

The classic cars of the 60's are doing quite well partially due to large group of people who:

Have plenty of disposable income
Are fulfilling dreams of their youth
Resonate with the styling of the cars

Time will tell where people 50 years from now choose to put their disposable income. I personally am ordering a 2010 because I prefer the newer creature comforts, safety, and reliability found in newer cars. I could easily purchase a classic car for the same $$ (not a crazy rare car) but I choose newer technology. Time will tell if our society will produce enough people that prefer the nostalgia over what is being offered in new cars. Thankfully these new mustangs provide enough throwback styling to give me that muscle car fix. Something a BMW simply can't touch.

No, for the simple reason the electronics will crap out over time, and there will be no one that can work on em anymore.

The cars from before EFI and computerchips will outlive the current automobiles due to simplicity. My dad in law bought a 64 impala, and I can understand that car a whole lot better than my own 2005.

Ditto I would be the same age, but alas I will most likely be taking a dirt nap. I am leaving my car to my daughter so I dont know what she will do w/ it.
