And screw Insurance cies, we get rapped by them most of the time.
For example, since when it's fair to put aftermarket or used parts on our cars anyway??
Especially when you're not at fault.
I could go on and on...
Oh, I agree. The insurance companies are far from fair themselves.

As a sidenote, we backed one into a corner about a year ago. My oldest's six-shooter was hit by another driver head on. The other person was at fault. In the end, we got 9k, medical reinbursements, and also kept my son's car for spare parts on top of that. All for a 2000 V6 Mustang coupe.

The insurance company didn't initially realize my wife is a paralegal, and some of the things they were initially trying to do were not only unethical, but borderline illegal. After a couple phone calls with her, they were willing to give us about anything to see the situation resolved quickly! The similar class actions against them for other cases helped that, once we pointed out that we were aware of the pending legislation!

But you have the right attitude none the less, sir.
In all honesty, I'm not trying to sound holier than thou about the whole situation. However, I just try to make sure I can sleep at night if I do something, and when I saw this I simply couldn't not say anything.

Sorry to the OP for the offence. I thought the attached picture would explain that the comment was sarcastic.

Seems like no one picked up on the fence part until I commented on it.

I picked up on it, but just didn't mention it. I was sitting on the fence about discussing it.

No, you leave a note. If they care, they will contact you. If they will just send the bill to insurance, that is their choice, not yours.

So since it is a corporation, they must have tons of money and can afford to pay for everyone elses mistakes that result in damage to their property? If there is not a single owner, there are multiple owners, and chances are, they are people just like you, with kids in college and bills to pay. The company's bottom line is affected by stuff like this, and in the end, those owners, along with their employees, are all affected. Unlike companies like GM, most companies pay their employees what they can afford, based on their bottom line each year. Just because the company might make millions in sales each year, they probably support dozens or hundreds of employees with the profit.
If you hit a fence at an Exxon refinery, I am glad you left, they screw us every day, but otherwise, chances are it's just a business that employs people like you, and you just screwed them.

Is that your daughter in your avatar? She's HOT. (or is that one of her friends?)

Bah.. we all make mistakes, and we pay the price for them. I have never personally screwed up someone's property and run, but when I was younger, I had no problem when one of my friends did, and if I had been in their situation, I might have done the same. Perhaps you don't believe in Karma or "what comes around goes around", but I have been victim to hit and runs multiple times, and I have been hit 2 times in my life, once by a city bus, and despite minor damage, I told them not to worry about it, even though I could have gotten thousands out of it. On the flip side, I have fallen asleep at the wheel before and had the good fortune not to go off the road. Perhaps there is a lesson there somewhere. I certainly don't claim to be a saint by any stretch, and I have done my fair share of selfish and dishonest acts in my life. I would like to think that the sum total of my actions in life have added up to some of the good fortune I have had. To each his own. I just hope the fence was not one of my company's.

OK, for those who blasted me, point taken.

For those who backed me up in one way or another, thank you

I called a fence company where a friend of a friend works. He said he would check it out and get me an estimate for the repairs.

So I'll proceed from there.

on a side note. No that's not my daughter or any of her friends in my avatar. I wish she had hot friends like that.

NDgoalie, my apologies, sarcasm is hard to detect sometimes.
