very interested to see how many lbs.(if any) can the 5.0 hold.....very happy the 5.0 is coming back, but with all the 6L around, i thought they would resurrect the 351(5.8L) and get 400 hp and low compression...

If you're really in the market for the bigger L engine, I'd say wait and see. The Raptor is getting that new Sick 6.2L V8. I would not be surprised if it finds it's way into the ole GT 500.

the 6.2 seems like its gonna get even more so front heavy.... the GT was already besting the GT500 in the motor trend cornering section. They do need to figure out a way to get alot more power with smaller motor and better off throttle efficencies, or they will have problems competing. The TT 5.0 is a huge step in the right direction, lets see if it ever happens...

the rods in the 5.0 are forged, not sure about other internals. plus, with higher comp, you make more hp per psi, dont you?

Ford is big on turbo right now, they expect to offer ecoboost engines on most of their cars by 2013. My money says we see an ecoboost in the GT500 sooner or later. i bet the small percentage that doesn't get them will be trucks. Also Obama just handed out a bunch of grants to automakers, one of them was to Bosch to demo a high CR turbo setup that saves 30% on fuel. sounds like what the 5.0 needs to me.

I just have a hard time believeing that.

SVT managed to fit a 6.8l V-10 into a 2000 GT. and it was a daily driven car.

the S197 has more room (slightly), and that 5.0 doesn't look so big.

would be pretty sweet to see

Plenty of room for turbos, just shuffle things around a little.
I have a PT Cruiser in the shop right now and boy, talk about no engine bay room for your hands!!
I'm sure Mechanics hire Proctologists to work on these cars cause it's tighter than a scared sphincter!

hahahah.......thats probably true. As for the 6.2 V8 I would think that would be the next step for the GT500. They could easily do a 6.2 aluminum block to reduce weight.

The rods in the Coyote are NOT forged steel. They are forged powdered metal rods. Same type of rods as in the 3-valve.
Not good for FI with 11.0:1 compression.
