just wanted to throw this little tidbit out there.

those louvers aren't legal in all places. We have yearly Safety Inspections out here and they are not legal.

glad I asked because I was about to purchase the SHR Louvers...the Inspection Guy even showed me the manual and a e-mail discussion from his uppers saying they were against the code

It varies from $50-150.00. If you have the tools (which you can purchase from SHR) and a place where it's at least 60° out of the weather, you can do it yourself.
I didn't have space in my garage and I was a little chicken to attempt the project. I let the glass guy at a local Ford dealer do the install.

I don't see a problem as long as you have side mirrors and especially those with blind spot mirrors. It's not like you "can't" see out them, I just don't. I'm used to using my side mirrors because I drive a big truck all day long weaving in and out of traffic with no problems.
So if louvers are illegal in Hawaii because of safety issues, then they should make ALL vehicles like vans with no side windows or back glass illegal too.
I think it's more hazardous when you have to turn your head back to see. Just last week a car crashed in the guard rail because he was looking over his shoulder to see if the lane was clear.

they are illegil under a tinting law...not for a loss of sight concern. out here, all passenger cars must have 35% or lighter tint for all windows...period.

trucks/vans/suvs can only have 35% front, and dark as they want on all the passenger (rear) windows.

the louvers are considered "tint" and thus get regulated as such. even with cutouts they are failures. I'm not happy with it, but it's not worth the $250 fine per window...even though they would look badass
