I see people adding spacers in the rear all the time to widen the stance outback.. isnt this the same concept exept on side already has a "built in spacer" if that makes sense

Honest question. Is English your native language?

Fix it right or don't fix it at all.

Try and get the situation corrected with customer service. They should make you whole as it was their error. But if all else fails, it shouldnt be a problem out back. I wouldnt do it up fromt, especially not 10mm.

I speak Perfect English, but no it is not my first language.

everyone is just saying fix it right nor not at all...

but still no answer WHY IS THIS A BAD WAY TO FIX IT....UNTIL I GET A NEW WHEEL.

the only reason i need to fix it asap id because i dont want to ruin my tire and have it wear uneven.

i annot buy a new rim right now, but i will as soon as i can. is this an ok fix until i ge a new rim? thats what im asking becaue i can get a 3/8''spacer tommorow

See, that right there is a key piece of info you left out - "UNTIL I GET A NEW WHEEL". As a temporary fix - yeah, sounds like you'd be better off using the spacer than how you're running them now. As a permanent fix though, no. I can't imagine anybody recommending that as a permanent fix.

What would happen if you used the spacer as a permanent fix, and why would that be wrong? Well, besides the obvious fact that it will look wrong, to go into a detailed explanation with "actually knowledge" of why it's wrong, you'd probably have to find someone who's actually tested such a set up. And, I doubt you're gonna find anybody else who's run a set up like that, 'cause... it's just wrong. And, because it has the potential to effect the ride/handling of the car, which could potentially pose a safety risk (probably not likely, but who knows, you're not likely to find anybody who's tested it), nobody's gonna recommend it.

At the very least, although the spacer will cause only a very slight difference in actual weight between the wheels on either side, I'd be concerned about the difference in weight distribution between the two wheels. I imagine if anything about that set up will effect ride/handling, that would be it. If I had to live with the temporary spacer fix, I'd run the asymmetrical wheels in the rear. Less likely to effect steering, I'd think. Again, who knows though.

So, temporary fix that's better than how you're running now? Probably. Good permanent fix? Probably not.
