Default 5.0 Mustang MPG

Ive got a 5.0 with 3.55 and M6 Trans. MPG through first 3 Tanks.
682 Miles City / 180 miles Highway = 862 Miles Total
20.0 MPG (260 / 13)
22.9 MPG (319 / 13.9)
21.9 MPG (283 / 12.9)

21.7 MPG Average - 79% City / 21% Highway.

I'm particularly impressed when you consider how much ragging on it Ive done to verify my high rpm clutch issue.

PS I only have two settings: Old Man (Low RPM Short-Shifter) and Race.

Wow you're gonna wear it out before the mods even come out lol. I'm curious though, how much race vs old man driving have you done. I know if I get a GT I'll be doing old man driving with the 3.31 axle.

A fair amount. Hopefully I will be able to drive more normally on the street after the clutch parts go in next week. Im having what appears to be clutch overcenter issues during 6500+ rpm gear changes. If its whats suspected by Engineering it should be an easy fix if anyone else experiences the same issue. Once its confirmed I will let everyone know the offending part.

You going to do the same "Old Man 3.31 Driving" that Powerhouse did on their 12.58 @ 112 Showroom Stock Pass?

Nah if I did choose the GT over the V6 (still on the fence between the two) I wouldn't be pushing it at the track for awhile, I baby new vehicles until I get to know them better.

That is indeed impressive. I would have guessed 16-18 mpg would be typical for it.

He is getting the same, if not better, MPG than my 4.6L in the same type of driving.

Ford is right and that 6spd trans really is a big help!

I never got that MPG in my 07 GT when I was mostly city driving. I am getting around the same with the 5.0 loaner I have. It has the 3.31 gears.

5.0 gets same mileage as my 6 banger caddy CTS , that's why drove my GT on this 4000 mile vacation, so far 26.8 after 1800 miles, running between 65 to 75 through mountains and up north.word to wise....if you bring your ride to north minn. bring your handheld tuner cuz where i am, which ain't isolated st. cloud, mn no 93 unless i drive 100 miles south.
