Exclamation 5.0 Ordered 3 Weeks Ago... still no VIN??

Hey guys, new member here! Put in my order for a 2011 GT on 6/30... still haven't heard so much as a peep from my dealership. Anyone have any idea on how long it takes to get a VIN #? Figured I'd have had at least that by now...

Forum looks awesome. I look forward to participating. Owner of a 2005 Mustang GT and a 1967 Shelby GT500.

Pshh 3 weeks is nothing hah. My order is coming up on 5 weeks now and still no VIN. The worst part about it is that I'm in contact with my dealer and he's been talking to Ford reps and they still really don't have a VIN for my Mustang.

It's killing me. I think I'm going to get a little meaner this week and push harder if they still don't get it.

Interesting. So some people get their VIN within a reasonable time span (1 week) and others take a ridiculous amount of time (5 weeks). Do you think it's the dealership or Ford?

Thinking about it logically, it's in the best interests of the dealer to get the car in ASAP, especially if there's a trade-in involved... what would be the gain of the dealer delaying delivery of the car? A lost sale and bad internet reviews, bad word-of-mouth, and a possible complint to Ford/BBB? Doesn't make sense, so I think it's Ford.

LostBoyz, when did you place your order?

I definitely agree with your logic. I especially believe that it must be on Ford's end since me and my dealer get along quite well, definitely no reason for them not to want my business/my money. I'll cross my fingers for the both of us though! I know how hard it is waiting for any information about the new mustang.

I just shot over an email to my dealer asking about the VIN again and hoping we could push the process along.
