Since the print date of the Manual is 8/2006, there may have been a bit of guesswork on Ford's part as to the timing of the change.

It's fair to say that at some point there was probably a change. Yeah, watch that word "probably."
Dual phase is a fancy word for steel that has been cooled a certain way after being heated to a designated temperature.
Anyway, depending on the plant the car is built, you have to dig in to figure out what's what.
Freaking Ford, you can never get a straight answer anymore.

In 2008 they changed the under-hood insulation/blanket to seal against a cold air box for the bullitt and also to clear the bullitt strut tower brace.

About October 2008? they fixed the problem with water leaking into the passenger side floor board.

My '08 has it in the center console. You can plug something in and keep it in there, no wires to get in the way of shifting and... stuff.

Hmmm speaking strictly of GT models....
2005, only 17" wheels offered, 3.55 gears on manual cars, 3.31 on autos
2006, 18" fan blades and bullitt wheels introduced mid-year and the charcoal/carbon fiber-like dash face finish added as an alternative to the silver finish for the IUP, Shelby GT-H rental cars(black & gold with unique hood, automatic trans convertibles only)
2007, GT/CS option as well as Shelby GT coupe(in black or white). TPMS added standard, navigation become available mid year, comfort package with heated seat available, side air bags standard, aux jack offered and is standard, leather covered dash & armrest optional, sirius radio offered. engine coolant crossover tube modified, silver 17" bullitt wheels replace charcoal ones, 3.31 for manual cars, 3.55 optional
2008 Bullitt option, Shelby GT now in Vista Blue or Grabber Orange and Hertz rental convertible offered in black & gold, HID headlamps available, ambient lighting available, revised sparkplugs mid year, chrome trim on radio *****, charcoal spokes on fan blade wheels, two tone leather interiors offered(like the GT/CS).
2009 No Shelby GT models offered, glassroof available, IUP & ambient lighting standard on premium cars. 45th emblems standard on all non GT/CS, Bullitt cars. White striping available on GT/CS
I'm sure I'm missing some things, but these are the most significant changes to the early S197 cars that I can recall.
My favorite early S197 non-Shelby would be a 2009 Vapor Silver GT/CS coupe with the glassroof(not sure if offered on GT/CS though, but have seen pre-production photos of one), HIDs, nav and stick-shift(as GT/CS were based on premium GTs the IUP & ambient lighting would be standard on 2009 models). Wonder if any in this configuration were made????

Optional (unless they were made standard at some time during the model year). My 2007 was assembled in September 2006 and does not have side air bags.

I'd love to know the weight differences from the 07' model 'underpinnings'. I've tried to locate the specs but obviously haven't looked hard enough. My car was around 3640#s on a scale shortly after I purchased it and I've probably knocked another 100lbs off in aftermarket parts, suspension parts, wheels etc. Need to weigh it again...
