Replacing a fuel filter generally isn't tough. I haven't changed one on a newer mustang, but generally all you need is a couple of wrenches, a fuel filter tool (these don't cost much), and a new fuel filter of course. With buying new tools, it shouldn't cost you more than maybe $20-25 and you can do it in your own driveway, as long as you don't mind getting a bit of gas on your hands.
Yeah, but I don't think they're real expensive, maybe $10. And they make the job a bit easier. Either way, upon looking further, it looks like our fuel filters are the type with the plastic clips that come out with a screw driver. I don't think you really need anything special in that case.
