Pulled over for first time since SC installed
I'll post pics of mine tomorrow... there is a bracket that you can get that can mount under the car pops up manually or remotely. I have gotten pulled over approximately 8 times in the Austin area for this stupid law... I have 5 plus friends that do not have front license plates on their cars and never have been pulled over. Last time I got pulled over i had it retracted under the car...... as he was behind me I used the remote and had it pop-up. I told him it was on there he said "no it's not" I said "can you look again" he went up to the front and stared at it for a good 20 seconds then came back and apologized. It was well worth the investment for that haha!
Not my daily driver but I do drive it often as long as the weather is nice. It really hasn't been that big of a deal in 3 years I have been been pulled over for it twice only once got a ticket and one stupid ticket for it in DC which they had no business writing.
Op, your car is awesome and that cop is a tool. OMG doesnt he have anything to do? Maybe stop some crime or something? Your plate looks fine. I have not run a plate on my two cars since 04.......I guess I have been lucky.
You should be good to go; sounds like when you corrected the officer he took it a little too personal.
Here are your tail light specs: http://www.fastlaws.com/index.php?id=txtn547_322
And the courts have ruled that even though the vague law stated the license plate needs to be mounted in the front of the car, it has been confirmed the plate needs to be on the bumper : http://www.statesman.com/news/texas-...st-918800.html

Cops here in WV are pretty cool when it comes to the tails and tint probably because they are too busy with all the rednecks and their loud trucks running around acting like they own race cars...lol.
You dealt with a guy that was on his ego trip and being mad at the world because he has a small pecker.
He's there to enforce the existing law, not to make new ones.
Your plate location is plenty visible and it's ON the bumper, so you're good.

The tail lights are perfectly understandable IMO. My worst fear is getting rear ended. About 6 months ago it almost came true. I always make it a habit upon coming to a stop that I look in the rear view mirror to see if the fool behind me is paying attention. One day this dumbass kid not paying attention saw me at the last minute as I was sitting at a redlight when at the very last second he slammed on the brakes. I had my top down and about jumped out of the seat if it weren't for the seat belt. When I saw him fumbling to I assume, find the door lock switch I backed off. Satisfied then that I got the little dipschits attention.
I guess my point here is that as bad as I'd love to have tinted tail lights I don't. My bright red tail lights sequence upon braking and that gets peoples attention. #1, tinted tail lights are hard to grab most peoples attention when braking. #2, if photos are taken upon a rear end collision accident, who do you think will have the upper hand in court? "Your honor, I couldn't see his tail lights because they were so dark. Is that legal your honor"??? Won't be the person with the tinted tail lights I can guarantee you that. To me, it ain't worth it.
The license plate and the tint deal sucks. Your not endangering anyone there.
