Pulled over for first time since SC installed
Geez, just cos the plate is there doesn't make it legal.
I could have headlights at hood level shining right in your rearview with highbeams at night, is that legal? I could argue it is because my headlights were on...
Anyways, every state has its laws. If TX is anything like CA, the plate has to a "MINIMUM" height off the ground and perpendicular to the ground.
Most cops won't pull you over for one item like that but several (brake lights tinted, tinting on winows possibly too dark) just gives them reasonable cause to pull you over and check you out.
Get over it, fix the stupid crap (at least the plate) and if you don't like it, move to another state.

Don't worry about it until someone makes you fix it. It's no big deal. You have it at what looks like a slight angle, and somewhat laid back into the bumper, so if you want to fix it, just modify whatever you have holding it up to push it forward and inch or 2.
Here is where I got mine: http://www.ninosport.com/Altec-Retra...EU-p/400eu.htm
There is a video on there as well. I have sportline springs and I have to be careful on where i park. If you have lowering springs and a chin spoiler, I'd say that may be too low.

I am going to disagree with the majority. From the pic at least, looks like the front plate is at about a 45 degree angle and therefore less visible. You never see a license plate angled, they are always roughly perpendicular to the road surface.
Anyway, likely the purpose for pulling you over for the plate was not to write you a ticket for the plate, but to see what else was going on with you and the vehicle

I kinda see the argument of the plate being recessed and angled.
All of this is rather dumb from the cop though, you see motorcycles with sideways plate (cruiser bikes) or recessed so far into the rear wheel opening, you wouldn't know there is one.
I'm sure this crap is illegal but you never see these guys getting pulled over, at least in FL.
You should be good to go; sounds like when you corrected the officer he took it a little too personal.
Here are your tail light specs: http://www.fastlaws.com/index.php?id=txtn547_322
And the courts have ruled that even though the vague law stated the license plate needs to be mounted in the front of the car, it has been confirmed the plate needs to be on the bumper : http://www.statesman.com/news/texas-...st-918800.html

I appreciate the support, comments about the car and the feedback from all. As I was saying I wasn't trying to get away with anything that wasn't clearly legal, if that was the case I wouldn't have placed the plate on the car in the first place.
I heard about the law change in the link above and decided to put one on. Bought a black plate and devised a mounting system. I thought about the ones that flip back and forth but I could see that going bad if I got pulled over if they saw the bracket could flip back and forth. My plate is tilted about 10-15 degrees right now as I wanted to allow some airflow with the supercharger. I guess I'll remove the cover and tilt it back upright more.
As for the tail lights. It's just tinted clear coat and is still brighter than a stock 05-09 tail light when lit due to the 10+ LED's (tested at a show with a guy next to me in his car). I also left the third break light alone to help. Not the biggest fan of the tail lights on the 10+'s and this helped me get over that :-) I understand the feedback of those with concerns and is actually why I removed my black-outs from my vette (dodging thrown objects...).
I'm not to frustrated with the officer as I know he was just doing his job the way he felt it needed to be done. If he wanted to be a jerk he could have given me 3 tickets (from what he said) so rather than checking on these things I would be setting a court date.

It seems like that copper was hatting on you cause of your ride. Although, he is right about the plate cover is illegal; however, you can have your plate anywhere as long as it is visible. The plate cover is illegal cause a red light camera wont be able to take picture of your plate should you run a red light. At least that is the reasoning here. I would have just kept my plate in my glove compartment and then place it on the dash if i got stopped. Oh yeah, your tint looks a litttle dark but who cares. Its a sports car, what the F U C K does the cop expect ????
READ THE POSTED LINK!!! The court in TEXAS ruled the plate must be on the bumper!!!!!
