V6 Premium with Performance Package question????
That price is incredibly high...incredibly high. I'd have to see what exactly is on the build sheet but it shouldn't be even remotely close to that for a V8 unless it literally had every single option on it, and even then it would be a stretch lol. Especially with military discounts and everything you should be able to get a better deal.
I got my GT for 33K flat before rebates ($1500 in rebates), and that is a GT - Premium package, over the top racing stripe, Auto Trans, and GT Access pack 4 (hood scoop and pedestal spoiler), oh and also the security package.
Make sure to find out what the dealer invoice is and push them to beat it. It sounds like they have you by the ***** over there because your choices are limited, but you're in the middle of Afghanistan fighting for this country, so I'm sure you have the ***** to get a good price on this car.

Yeah, I figured that price was too high and to be honest I really don't plan on spending that much. I'm looking at either going no higher than $34,000 and preferably looking to see if I can get a Mustang for at least $28,000 or a little lower if possible.
However, the dealer I'm going thru has been calling other dealers throughout Germany to see what other Mustangs are in stock, also, he told me that by the time I get back (May 2012), there should be some shipments of 2012 models (V6's and V8's).
The only bad thing is that the dealers only order the usual colors such as Black, Grey, and White. Every now and then they will have a unique color (blue, red, orange, ect). However, the interior is usually black (for either leather or cloth).
I don't feel like paying an extra $2,000 for shipping, so I can probally find one to my liking and like Tanner said, I can simply add some things that I want, but wasn't available.
And yes, I will definately do all within my powers to get a good price...

If you were a long time member, I'd move your thread there and let them have a field day, lol.
If you need help getting a Stang in Europe, let me know...
I have connections in Belgium with people that import them and really know how to work on them.
They're also very successful at racing them.
Nice Pony, I agree with what you just said in your last post.
But you don't need to restrict yourself to the technical section, just ignore the personal stuff and enjoy the whole thing.
We both know that you and I will never solve the V8/V6 argument or Turbo/blower etc...
37k is high, the dealership I was working at quoted Siggy 34495 for a FULLY loaded 2012 GT premium +TTL (which still isn't amazing in my opinion, siggy and I would've talked them down a little more, lol)
Nice Pony, I couldn't agree with your post about getting some tools and doing the work on your Mustang any more! Which I think is one of the biggest selling points of Mustangs (as i'm sure you do too). I'm a little flustered right now b/c I don't have the time to install my new rotors/pads but there is nothing like being responsible for everything you put on your stang.
Tanner, that dealership must not want to sell cars! Who doesn't let someone test drive a vehicle they are interested in! It's a GT not a shelby for pete's sake! lol I wouldn't let him make the decision until he drives both. He'll know what he wants. The V6's are great, I loved it. Just depends on what you want out of your stang.

Thanks Pascal. If I have any issues, I will hit you up. Belgium is about a 5 hour drive from where I'm stationed at. Overall, I will keep researching online and ask questions on this forum while I'm here.
Thanks
Thanks
I have read through a majority of this thread and I have been debating the same thing. Weighing the pros and cons. I am military and can do the same type of deals as you....so I have a piece of advice....you can take it for what it is worth.
First WE ALL LOVE POWER.....it is in our nature. But this neither car is your father or older brother's mustang.....I have owned plenty of V-6 with a little get up and go and in my youth many a muscle car that ate motor mounts due to the extreme torque I was pushing......Most V-6's now a days have anywhere from 140ish to 200 HP....at least over the past 14-16 years of buying experience. The V-6 has 305 hp......and great gas mileage.
Is it worth the extra ponies.....dollar for dollar it is likely to be worth the money if you MUST have the extra power. But what are those ponies going to do for you? Likely the same thing it would do fo me....get me in more trouble. That said and you might be smarter than me.....but the truth is this is exactly the reason I no longer own a motorcycle....too many close calls and actions of questionable judgment.
For the daily ride to and from work....the V-6 will do you fine. If you intend on racing at the tracks on the weekend(and I would highly suggest you keep it on the track rather than the public roadways).....go for the power. Remember, you are a leader and you never know what is around the corner.
Obviously, this is one person's opinion. I like you would love to have the extra power but with today's gas prices you are likely to enjoy but later regret that paycheck to paycheck decision. Not sure if you have kids, but if you do you will want that extra money for other things later.
If you do want to go the GT way I would definitely say go used. Really you should always go used since a new car is one of the biggest losses you will take the minute you sign the papers and drive it off the lot. As I get ready to order my new V-6.....with a few bells and whistles.
I am going with the performance pack not for the better gearing as much as the handling.....to me that is far more important than the extra ponies. How often and long do you drive in a straight line?
Hope this helps....no offense to the GT owners (more power to you - literally), I just think for the practical everyday driver/commuter and with today's gas prices and uncertain economy, the V-6 will do MOST (not all mind you) drivers good.

Xanthri: Thanks for the input. I've taken the fact that I'm 36 years old (which is still young), and recently married. I have no kids, but do plan on starting my family as soon as I'm back from this deployment. So basically, finance and how I manage my money is of the upmost. I go on my R&R vacation in January (to the States), so I will take a look at some Mustangs. And your advice is great in regards of if I go for the GT, I will look at used ones (no lower than 2009 models).
But again, thanks for you input...

Staff Sgt-
Nothing is going to tell you what you really want but a test drive. I know you dont want to wait, but thats what Id do. That, and sometimes just looking around out of nowhere you develop an attatchement to a car. Thats what happened with mine.
Another thing you may find worth considering. I have a 2009 V6 Pony Package. My dad has a 2008 Saleen S281 SC. My car puts out 215 crank, his 465. His will annihilate mine in any driving competition. And as much as he loves his car, on a day to day basis he laments losing the classic Mustang styling in the Saleen. He whined so much about not having a ford or the classic pony tri bar logo anywhere on his car that I finally got him the tri bar billet grille ornament to shut him up
Food for thought. I prefer the Pony styling to the GT, but thats just me and my pop.
When making your decision, I would recommend just buying what you want, what feels good to you. God knows youve earned it. But in all seriousness, sometimes on a lot you just get attatched to a certain car.
Something else you should look into financially tho- Insurance rates. I got a v6 instead of a GT because as a 20 yr old kid it would cost an extra 2k a year to insure me in a GT.
Take care of yourself man. Seriously. Thank you for fighting the good fight. Id be with you if I could, but ive been rejected by every recruiter in the US because of health issues

Your welcome Stags. Yeah, that's one of my plans is to test drive some mustangs so it can assist me with my decision making process. And you're not missing out on anything. This is my 4th Combat Tour and hopefully my last (too many close calls and I still have about 8 months left in this hell hole)......
go to www.truecar.com
Within 3 hours of sending out the info, I got 3 dealers in my area saying they had the car I wanted in stock and that they will honor the Zag price without hassle. I am upset with myself that I didnt discover that website sooner.
