V6 hate
I can't answer for MadStang, but I know I mod my V6 to make it look good. Its not a V6 owners fault that Ford made the V6 look way less aggressive. I'm very proud of my sixxer and I'm sure that MadStang and most others on this forum feel the same way.
I've owned both. Owned a 2001 V6, made car payments and there was no way I could afford the insurance on an 8 at that age. After 4 years insurance went down and had the ability to buy the 8 which I did. people are always going to give you crap about something, wether it is the 6 or 8, auto or stick, 4.6 or 5.0, etc. but remember like someone previously stated more than likely people who insult for one reason or another are just trying to cover the fact that they drive a toyota/honda
My first sports car was a 6 and I regretted it every day that I didn't get a V8. I got the same crap from friends back then who had V8's. They all lived at home or drove old models. It never ends, BMW's try to stick their noses in the air when they come across a GT. Same ignorant attitude.
Yea, I've got some GT badges on order that im going to stick on the fenders because im concerned that some may look at my 6 and then judge my ***** size. /sarcasm
Im waaayyy more offended by what you just said than i could ever be by someone knocking my displacement. I give people hell on here for "up-badging" their cars. Nope, just trying to make a bland v6 look and perform better than what the factory could muster. Like stated before, its not my fault that ford decided to cut the 4.0 short. Hell, look at the stock wheels and skinny tires. Im not ashamed of what I have. I work on it all the time modding and detailing so I have to say im very proud of my little 6. Just another thread stating the amount of **** hurt that's channeled through those that don't have the deemed necessary displacement.
If I really wanted to pose as a gt, I would have bought the gt appearance package along with badges. Then I would have promptly castrated myself. I rather admit to getting around town on a pogo stick than badge my car as something its not.
I will say that I don't understand the statements that a V-6 is so much cheaper to operate than a GT. I've been in both. My V-6 got 15-16 MPG city, about 25 MPG highway.
My GT('s) got 15-17 MPG city, and 21-22 highway.
I drive kinda hard. My 09 is currently seeing 14ish MPG city. I've been trying to wear out my rear tires.
As far as insurance, I got raped with the V-6. It was only $20/month difference between it and the GT. Still, that old sixxer was a nice car. Treated me right and I had a ton of fun with it.
Damn iPhone and it's small screen. It is ironic though huh?

Insurance for the v8 for me (25yo with a clean record) would've been about $60/mo more, so an extra $720/yr. Then there is the car payment, for another ~$10k would've put me in an equally equipped v8, a difference of $275/yr (assuming 3 yr loan).
So for at least the balance of paying off the car it would cost an additional ~$1300 per year, and ~$1000/yr after its payed off. Sorry I would rather save that towards an actual investment like a house.
Then we could talk about depreciation as a percentage and find some more cost of owning a more expensive car.
Granted if you have different priorities, already have a DD, already own a house, and have the money to spend, I can see why you would want one. You cannot negate the price difference beyond the sticker though.
I think the most fun about owning any Mustang is the improvements that can be made to the car, whether its a V6 or a V8. That is what this hobby is all about, and FOrd intended it to be that way when they designed the car in the first place. You can take a 2005 base V6, put on a dual exhaust/rear valance, CAI, lowered suspension, tires, wheels, pads, and you can kick a stock GT's butt in every corner. For thousands less. If you add a supercharger then you spend about the same as a used GT but you beat him everywhere.
So the issue is, can you afford to buy the GT with all the money upfront, or the V6, mod it your way and add stuff and money a little at a time. BTW there are amazing deals for take off parts on 05-09 GT Mustangs and SHelby's so V6ers can save a bunch of money there too.
If Ford made a twin turbo eco boost v6, I might trade my car right now. I paid $5.05 for gas last week, and I know that this stuff does not go down in price. That is $3 MORE than two years ago. So one day no one will have a V8!

There's nothing shameful about a V6 and I don't know why people get like that. I drive a GT and VERY seldom drive it like it's a GT. I can count on one hand the times I have absolutely hit it hard. I bought it because it was a great deal and I have always wanted one, but I have no problem that one of the new V6's could probably (definitely?
) beat my GT. More and more the V6's and 4 cylinder cars are getting much, MUCH quicker and economical. I guess it's an ego thing, somehow they think the extra 2 cylinders makes their car superior. Like someone else said though, chances are the people ragging on 6's can't afford even that anyway. Everyone wants a GT500, but not all of us can afford that and in the meantime, we get a Mustang we CAN afford and enjoy and spend OUR money so it's OUR business
Just blow'em off

Just because some folks feel a need to get up on their cylinder-count soapbox doesn't mean you have to read, watch or listen to them. It won't stop the sixxer-haters from putting more of the same crap up, and your replies and/or contribution to their view counts only helps encourage them to do just that.
