I understand this is not fords fault, cause of that fact that I modified the rear with the 4.10's, but this is 100000000000% the dealers fault. I am not sure wtf the a$$hole did but I am guessing he used an impact gun. He told me he marked and put the pinion nut exactly where it was after he changed the seal. This is why I am worried now about him rebuilding the entire thing. How am I supposed to know hes not going to do it again. At first the service advisor told me well your gonna have to take it back to where you got them installed. I was no way in hell doing this after they effed up, cause there was no noise AT ALL when I stepped foot in their door. After they changed the seal I got on the highway and thats when it broke.

And what doesnt make it any better, is that JDM doesnt have availability to do it until Oct. 19 and couldnt do it while I was there for the dyno tune. It pisses me off how busy they are, yet a guy came in when I was getting my tune done and left a $1k deposit to have a full blower swap done on his 2012 shelby and asked "so can we start next week sometime?". And Jim said yeah thats no problem..... Basically you have to spend thousands to be important there.

Which is why I didn't do business with them. I don't doubt they're good at what they do, but the fact that it was SO hard to get info/buy a clutch from them over the phone just pissed me off.

Who did you speak to? I deal with Jim Jr. and he is more than helpful when I call about ANYTHING. I called several times asking his opinon on whether to remove my LT's or not and he was helpful every single time and never rushed me off the phone. They are extremely well known in the mustang world and with them 30mins away from me and no other GOOD shops in the area, I have declared them as my shop to go to as of now. Every other shop is about 1hr+

Dealer called earlier and told me to come down at 10am as they were going to start taking apart the rear (told them I wanted to be there for EVERYTHING). I hope everything goes well and this d!ck gets it right this time. I will literally cause havoc in that dealership if I go to leave again and I start hearing a grinding from the rear. Trying to stay on a positive note though, so hoping all goes well. I believe in what goes around comes around, so maybe this is payback for all the cars I spanked in the year of owning it. "426hp" big bad Camaro didnt like getting beat by a bolt on 2010 mustang lol

Also I remember when I got my 4.10's installed there was a "break-in" period for the bearings where I couldnt "beat" on the car for I think like 500miles. This still applies correct since they are replacing the bearings?

That right there shows the tech DID NOT FOLLOW FORD'S SERVICE MANUAL GUIDELINES!!!!

First, you're not supposed to reuse the same pinion nut. 2nd tightenning the nut to the same location is not proper procedure.

Tell them, if the tech is not following Ford's service procedures, how can you be certain they are doing the repairs properly?
I'd be all over those bastages.

The break-in period is roughly 100 miles, and that's for the gears. Lookup ford racing gear installation instructions, and it'll say how long to drive it, then let it sit, then when to drive it again. that hardens and cures the gears, nothing to do with the bearings.

when at ford, make sure they are following the ford service manual/procedures and using the proper special tools when setting the pinion depth and backlash, and especially, putting on the pinion nut (new one, with locktite) with the proper preload inch-pounds torque specifications.
The procedures can be seen at the following links:

good luck, I hope they get someone competent and do it right.

+1. That statement is a huge red flag on their part. That tells us all that the tech had no idea how to properly install a gear set. Like stated, you don't reuse the pinion nut, and ALWAYS torque! What the f@&k is that mark ing the nut crap! Being that's a Ford tech, they should demand that shmuck go back to school. Or, keep him on the oil change lanes! That's about the extent of his knowledge at best.

4.10's all they way bro.

Also... just some advice.
Try to paragraph your posts and make them easier to read.
Often people will not even read the posts if they seem hard to read lol.

Not ragging on you just trying to make things easier for you and everyone else as well.

I know how it feels to run into bad luck.
We had a long run of bad luck when we had our 06GT and had multiple mod
problems. Hopefully your luck will turn around soon my friend so keep your head up!
