Default Whine after UDP's

I had UDP's installed last week and since then I have an alternator whine. Is this normal? I was told it was because the alternator is now having to work harder so its going to whine.

Less than one year ago I had a PA Performance Alternator (130) installed and a new battery, so I doubt either of those could be an issue.

Thoughts??

Did you use a new serpentine belt or the same one with the other pulleys?

When I had UDP's installed on my car, I still had the original belt on there. After a bit it kind of sounded like a whine was coming from the front of the car IIRC.

I replaced the belt after talking to the installer...it stopped the noise. I think the reasoning was something about the grooves being either slightly different...or something, I don't remember exactly. I think it was the same size belt, though.

Now, that is for an older bodystyle GT. I don't think the 3V's would be any different but hopefully someone else chimes in.

I got a whining after installing my m90 and still cant figure it out =/.... lol

All jokes aside, are you 100% sure the belt is tracking properly? And just because you bought a NEW part, doesnt always mean its perfect.

I have the Steeda UDP on my car and it makes Zero noises..sounds just like it did day i bought it..i would say something isnt right if its making a noise. something could be rubbing..not tight enough. What brand UDP did you install..did it come with a larger water pump pulley so you can just keep factory belt?

I checked the belt and everything is tracking correctly...

I did buy these used from a reputable member on another forum and are the Summit Racing "brand" and the water pump pulley was larger.

I was listening to the whine this morning and did notice it does NOT increase and decrease with the rpm's like a regular alternator whine would do....

Anyone have anything to add that may help me here? The noises from my car are starting to aggrivate me, especially the ones I know shouldnt be there, like the alternator whining and the gear whine I have.
