I just recently bought a 2008 Mustang GT and i was wondering if anyone had any recomendations on which exhaust system i should get? I am looking for Catback systems that sounds nice and is loud. I was looking at either this

or this

I had the Pypes Violators on my '08 GT and they were fairly aggressive and deep without being crazy loud.

Something around the $500 to $600 price range. Forgot to add that.

You really need to go to youtube and listen to different combos. Also reallize that every component in the exhaust chain effects its tone. Longtube headers will open it up, no cats will open it up. So you need to make a long term plan for you car. If you plan on headers, cams, supercharger etc....they will all effect the way your exhaust sounds. In some cases you will be trying to quiet it back down. Read about trumpeting and drone, both of which can be irritating. Trumpeting is the worst IMO, using offroad midpipes seems to bring it on.

Forget cat back and just get the FR500S mufflers. Zero drone and loud as hell.

I'd say skip a catback and just do an axle back. It will be a bit cheaper and a catback won't have any additional benefits over an axle back anyway. It really depends on what you plan on doing in the future, try to find clips of different systems with catted and off road midpipes as well as with and without long tubes.

I will tell you this. I am running the catback pypes super system on my 2012 G.T. and they are loud there is no doubt. It isn't a low rumble like flowmaster or magnaflow its a much more "race car sound" so if thats what you are looking for they are awesome. Have since added pypes headers and an x pipe and I have to put the car in first and let it roll and choke with no throttle out of the court so my neighbors don't hate me!

2012 G.T
Pypes cat back super system, pypes headers and x pipe, steeda cai, brenspeed 93 octane tune.

I decided not to go for the catbacks and decided to go for Pypes axle back and pypes offroad x-pipe. and later during the summer some headers and cams.
