Shifting problem - still.
Okay, over the past 6 months I have installed poly motor mounts and the TQ limiters. Every gear is fine with the exception of 1st to 2nd under high rpm's (over 5,000 rpm). It will grind going into 2nd grear every time. If I keep it under 5k rpm, it seems fine. This only happens with 1st to 2nd gear. All the others are fine even at 6200 rpm.
I know these 3650's are known for gear shifting issues. The car only has 21,000 miles. I'm not new to a stick, I have been using a stick for over 30 years. Could this be syncros at only 21k miles?? I heard that there was an issue with 1st to 2nd grinding and that there was a TSB, but I' not sure.

Yeah, my MGW came today so, the Hurst is getting pulled this weekend. I re-adjusted the CHE tq limiters and that made an improvement but not totally gone yet. I think the new MGW may be the ticket....
Slickman-
I have been following this thread and reading some others. My car is setup similar to yours - Hurst STS, CHE TQ Limiters, Etc. I was having the same promblem as you, especially at the track. I couldn't hit 2 gear to save my life. I thought it was just me. Now though, when the engine and transmission get hot, it was getting hard to get into any gear, including 1st at a stop light. After much reading and adjusting shifter, TQ limiters, etc., I have found that my clutch is not disengaging. With the pedal to the floor, I can rev up the engine and the car will move forward.
I am attempting to re-bleed the system, but I am worried that either my slave cylinder is going bad, my clutch is not properly spaced, or something in the clutch is going bad. It is a Centerforce DF, and it feels fine when driving, holds well under boost. It's just not disengaging when the pedal is applied. It only has about 2K on it.
I hope the MGW fixes your issue, but you may want to make sure your clutch is fully disengaging.
Anyone else have an idea what could be causing my dis-engaging issue?

I ran a test yesterday. Took it up to 6200 RPM gradually in first gear (not loading the drive line) and then shifted fast to second, went right in with no issues. If I put a load on the drive line (rolling ay about 10 MPH) and then go WOT and shift fast to second, it will griind. This alone tells me the syncros are fine and the drive line is moving the shifter. This is why I'm installing the MGW.

Well, the MGW shifter is in and I must say, it has made a noticeable improvement! The Hurst is no comparison to the MGW, hands down the MGW is MUCH better in every way. Smoother, no notchy feel and I have it set at 3 turns.
So, now I still get a gear grind in second at WOT but only half the time now. Next is the switch over to 3.2 qts Pennzoil Synchromesh.

Okay, the JHR high volume line is in and I change the fluid over to Pennzoil synchromesh. Also change the brake fluid over to DOT 4. Took me 3 hours to do everything. Tomorrow I change the oil and filter. Then a test drive........!
I'm loving this MGW!!
