I wish brenspeed would offer up a long block b326. I'd rather pay about $8k and just drop it in and go. I don't think i'd feel comfortable swapping heads/cams in my driveway. There's too much sand blowing around . Plus I'd have to get my heads freshened up I'm sure and wouldn't even know where to begin.

I already had the Whipple and the dual fuel pumps to go with it. I took a couple of years to shop for sales and deals before going through with it. Having to fortify the rear end, to handle it all, also cost a decent penny.

Unfortunately all of the things needed to do it right add up in the end. Take your time and do it right, and you will have a car that is more reliable in the end.
I've done it several times.. I was just curious if it was around the same price the way you did it all at once.. I purchase piece by piece over time and assemble everything myself, probably spend around 5K or so every build not including a power adder..

I know this might be late but DSS Racing has 326 / 5.3L long blocks for just under $8k

Default B326 Thums Down

Thumbs down on Brenspeed's B326 shortblock. My engine lasted roughly 2 months and threw a rod out of the side of the block. After tear down it was due to a spun bearing. Having multiple engine builders including Brenspeeds Manley engineers conclude the same diagnosis they gave me my money back "ONLY" for the shortblock which was covered under the 1 year warranty. Now what really bothers me & why I'm writing this up is because the attitude is if they are doing me a favor by refunding me my money. This problem is due to a "BUILD ISSUE" meaning not built properly, rather clearances not proper, wrong oil type (10w 40), Bolts not properly torqued, etc. Now I asked Brenspeed 3 times about the oil weight because my installer which is regionally known if not nationally with 25+ years experience said that oil is too thick however I need to use it since the builder required to keep warranty so we did. I am out $4000+ dollars even after they gave me my money back. They would not even pay return shipping because they wanted the block back, would not replace oil pump and Gears which I purchased from them, or anything else to maybe make things right as they advertise they stand behind their work & products. Extremely disappointed, if they wanted to make things right & really stood behind their work they could've easily said send us the car, we will replace engine & install on our dime since our build broke on you. I do not like the way they do business and it's noted. I researched the B326 prior & didn't see any negative reviews so this needs to be out there. Final thought I have learned alot about engine building since this happened so if anyone is in the position I was in DO NOT buy an engine from Brenspeed but go to a "HIGHLY" reputable builder in your area who truly stands behind their work. Not a company that mass produces engines and don't do the work with the attention to detail necessary for an excellent, reliable motor. Expensive lesson for me hope this helps. Cheers

Assuming you are just gonna post this any and everywhere that the word "engine" is mentioned?

While I'm sure your situation sucks, the truth is every manufacturer in every industry has some flaws eventually. Nothing, and no one is perfect. It sucks that it happened to you I'm sure. But cutting and pasting the same paragraph just seems like overkill.

That is ****ty. From my experience they have been great to deal with. I know several others are happy as well but there are people that dont like them or have had a bad experiences. There isn't a builder that has a 100% customer satisfaction especially an engine builder. Find me one that hasn't had their build blow. It won't happen. IM not excusing them but I am being realistic. If I were in ur shoes id be pissed and probably do a write up as well. Especially considering the builds are expensive. As I stated I had around10k or a bit more in mine. So I know the gut rot that would take place had mine blown.

What is ur next move? Are getting fixed
