Changed out the stock grille to a CDC 9-bar for improved airflow. I don't think I'm going to miss the GT fogs.

 

Why put the intercooler behind the bumper like that and not drop it down for a unobstructed airflow?

 

I agree. Seems like the veins/fins are almost completely obstructed.

 

First off looks amazing! I tip my hat to you sir for having the ***** (and wallet) for such a project....but the whole time I was thinking (besides I wish I had your money) how are you going to pass smog? Both of us living in Cali know the CARB regulations and how many **** tree huggers we have here.

I've been concerned as well, He says he has something to take car of that airflow issue, we'll see how it works. If it isn't effective enough, it will have to change. I can see with this particular intercooler why it was mounted where it was as far as piping goes and the frame rail.

There are still some smog exempt counties, and neighboring states are more car friendly... plus there are a few other options.
IF worst comes to worst, the kit has been built in such a way that it should be fairly easy (couple of hours) to pull the turbos and put the stock airbox back and exhaust mid section back in.

 

First startup, pretty uneventful, it still runs.

That sucks..but hopefully thats the most severe hickup you have with it.

 

I guess it took a few hours with SCT on the phone to get the tuner working again, and then it was on to the tuning. SO, this is still the stock block, part two is going to be the built long block swap, well any way, it made a bit more power than they were targeting on 10-11LBS/boost... 567RWHP/540RWTQ... so he will be changing out the springs for 8LBS, but he got it tuned. Just few more odds and ends to clean up, get another scavenge pump, build a skid plate under the turbos, etc. Probably won't be ready for this weekend though.
