I can care less what my mpg is on my '13 5.0 manual, but I do get 19+ consistently. That's with a 93 octane race tune and a lot of heavy footed driving. I actually calculated the mpg, too.
I hit a steady 23 MPG city and driving from GA to IN (600m) hopped me up with 29-ish. I have a v6 and I'm running aem full exhaust and factory 2.73 gears. I do tend to drive recklessly every now and then.
Say.. Purdue University? Where do you live at?
Oh, I went to school there. I have since moved across country and never updated it.

I want to know the difference. I have a 2006 V6 and in the winter I get from 16-20. In the summer I get about 19-22. So I wanted to know if I got a 2014 GT if my milage was going to to plummet further. Though Nuke is correct that the gas cost wont' make that much of a difference, I like to weigh all my options.
Plus, I liked to know if Ford has been able to improve tech in the last 8 years. If a Corvette from 2008 can get close to 30+ on a regular basis with 430+ HP, I want to know what the Mustang can get.
I love my mustang, one of the best cars I have ever owned, but I am disappointed on the MPG.

The 4.0 gets, on average, only about 2 MPG better than the 4.6L. IMO, that isn't enough to warrant choosing the 4.0 over the 4.6. And knowing that the 5.0 can get as good if not better mileage as the 4.6 (if you drive smart and save the fun stuff for the right times), the 5.0 is a no-brainer.
You're going to spend $30k -$40k and a few mpg difference is a drop in that bucket. Get the GT.
yep 100%
you will regret it for sure..1 week into buying the v6 you'll be tired of everyone saying oh it's a v6..v6 stang isn't a real stang imho..it's a wanna be..
the mpg wont be that different either

I just bought a tuner from motorvationefi and I get 22.5 mpg combined, it will blow the doors off a 4.6 GT. Your 4.0 V6 is rated 16-24 mpg. the 5.0 DOHC will get 30 on the hwy.
I am getting about 24-26 mpg on the highway, with an overall mixed average of 23 mpg per the display. I have an approximate 180 mile (round trip) commute, mostly highway/freeway driving. My car is a 2014 GT MT-82 with 3.31s.

You are absolutely correct about the 4.0 vs 4.6. When I bought the car I was in college and didn't feel I could stretch the extra several grand for the GT. Plus, I needed the better MPG because paying for college while attending it doesn't lend well to gas money. Looking back from my current financial situation, I could have pulled it off. Especially since I discovered how close the MPG is.
Its not really a regret but an observation about the past. Foresight is worth a million dollars. For the situation I was in, I am confident I made the right decision.
