Default The notorious water leak

So it's warming up here in New York which means no more snow. It poured over here for a while yesterday night and sure enough, I pulled out my car to notice water coming in from cabin filter. Only about a cup or two came in so that's good, and I got to shampoo and clean my interior and clean the leather all at once. I pulled out the grommet and it was full of muck. Thank god it wasn't like 3" that came in.

If you haven't done so in a long time or at all, go in there and check before you end up with a pool in the car. I googled the process and used this helpful guide to do the job, but feel free to post more. http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-foru...stangs.840839/

The leak thru the cabin air filter is NOT the "notorious" water leak described in the TSB. The leak thru the cabin air filter is benign compared to the TSB-related leak which can affect the SJB.

Nuke, there's another water leak? I just assumed that this was the most common because I've heard about it so many times so I labeled it notorious.

Is this on a particular year, or are they all prone to it?

The 05's and '06s had the most problems and the 07's and 08's were/are better but have the issue to a lesser degree. The TSB-related leak comes in from the cowling and runs down past the SJB. If the SJB itself gets wet, connections begin to corrode and gremlins come and go until the connection(s) go to chit altogether. In '07, Ford "fixed" the wet SJB problem by placing a little "awning" over it. But didn't resolve the leak.

I don't believe mine leaked until after I disturbed the grommets on the cowling when I replaced the cabin air filter. But it was hard to tell since she's a garage queen and didn't see rain much before or after.
