I been waiting for someone to say those auto-locking doors on the Mustang needs to be disabled because if you were to plunge into a lake or something you are definatly locked into your car because all the electrical will be shorted out soon as the water gets to it. Only way out is to probably to break a window.
Well, that's not really an issue. Even if your locks are down, if you pull the inner handle it mechanically opens the lock. Doesn't need the electric. Any car that I have had that does auto lock, has lock latchs that can be moved manually. I think that they must have thought this process out pretty well, for once.

I have an '06 Stang, and the procedure is slightly different for disabling the "Belt minder"

(owner's manual page 96)

1. Parking brake set, Gearshift in Park (automatic) or Neutral (manual)
2. Ignition switch in OFF position
3. Driver and passenger belts unbuckled.
4. Turn ignition switch to "on" position, do not start engine.
5. Wait for seatbelt light to turn off (approx 1 minute)

(the following steps must be completed within 50 seconds of light turning off)

6. Buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 9 times at a moderate pace, ending with seatbelt unbuckled.
7. The airbag light will come on for 3 seconds.
8. Within 10 seconds of the light turning on, buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt one more time.
9. as confirmation, the airbag light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds.

These steps must be done individually for both driver and passenger sides.

Hope this helps!

If Aliens tried to abduct you, and you had your seatbelt on, would they be able to get you? Or would the belt keep you in?
Would they have to abduct the whole car? If so they would probably keep it, and send the person back!!

I keep a pocket knife and a spring loaded center punch in the center console.
The knife is to cut the seat belt...
and the center punch is to break the window incase you end up in water, the electrical system will short out,
the water pressure will not let you open the door, or if the car fills up with water and the accident jamed the door
use the center punch, place the center punch tip in the center on the window and push inward, the center punch spring
will snap and break the window allowing you to escape.
