Power steering issue.
Just recently (past week), something with my steering has started to make noise. At very slow speeds/stopped is the only time it makes noise. My power steering pump has always made a slight whine (over 3 years) but it doesn't leak or anything. The new "moan" happens when I turn left, and happens at the same turning degree every time. Just looking to see if anyone has any insight to if it is the pump, rack, or maybe even ball joints. Car has 90K.
It is not the continuous whine. It is the short moan sound as the wheel turns left. Will probably need you volume all the way up.
Will it make this noise while you are moving also?
Reason I ask is because if you are sitting still, it takes more oomph to turn the wheel than it does while you are moving. This could be the additional strain on the pump. I cant say mine does this because I have not paid attention to it. My Caravan though, does do this same thing while sitting still. And because of this, I tend to always be moving at least a little bit when turning the wheel.
