Angry Never Ending problem

My first post so please excuse if the formatting is incorrect. I own a 2010 GT, automatic (5r55 tranny).

Back in March of 2018, I noticed that sometimes when i would give my car some gas, when it would shift into the next gear, there would be a noticeable, but quiet, grinding noise. This would only happen between 2800-3200 rpm's too, which is what confused me. If i gave it full throttle, and the gear engaged and landed at 4000 rpm, there'd be no grind. If i gave it low throttle and the gear engaged, landing at 2500 rpm, no noise at all. If i give it medium throttle, and it lands at 3k rpm's, there it is. A metal on metal, high pitched but quiet grinding noise. I thought nothing of it unfortunately. My car rarely landed in this area as I was either driving it like a minivan, or the occasional high throttle pull.

In July, my torque converter blew. I took it to a shop, and they replaced the torque converter and all of the seals and fluid. A few weeks later, my starter starts making this metal on metal grinding noise when I try to start it. Sometimes it starts right up, sometimes it take 2-3 times to get it to engage, and twice it left me stranded for more than a day. This was a brand new starter (replaced in December), so I was confused when they told me it was installed correctly, it was just malfunctioning. Fine, I had them replace it, inspect the teeth of the flywheel to make sure they weren't broken. Everything checked out, replaced it, and all was well. That is, until the starter made the same disengaged grinding noise as it did a few months ago (this fiasco ended in late September). Now I'm even more confused. This starter is brand new, and now is making the same exact noise as the "malfunctioning" original starter.

The car still makes the same grinding noise on up-shifts, and now the new starter is "broken" again. Could these problems be related? Has anybody hear had either of the problems? I'm not sure where to turn. Every shop screws me over, and the Ford dealership charged me $300 to turn my car off and on 20 times (to test for the starter noise, it didn't do it for them of course). Any help would make my Christmas, hell, it'd make my year!
