Convertible Rear Quarter Panels Anywhere?
I recently picked up an S197 (pretty sure...) who needed a good home. She's a rescue.
The previous owner had some contact with other solid objects on the driver's side and I am trying to figure out what the best way to address this is. Thus far:
- I found a new replacement fender which comes primered already. Awesome.
- I actually found the driver's door in the same color with the decals completely intact somehow!
...not bad.
Unfortunately It is a top level government secret what you are supposed to do about the rear quarter panel. I cannot seem to find one anywhere. Some places hint at them being welded as part of the unibody, so you cant just get a replacement quarter panel. Is tis true? When I looked at this one if deemed as though you could take the offending body panel off and just put another one on, but I must be mistaken.
The amount of damage to the rear section of the car isn't too extreme, but I am not a body shop and I can assure everyone if I were to attempt to repair the damage it would be worse than when I started.
I really hope someone in here can help me figure out what the proper course of action is. Help us Obi Wan...
Thanks.

so it would be cut & a replacement welded on
ask your car insurance company if they can help?
(i'm in Saskatchewan, so we only have our government vehicle insurance & they handle salvaged vehicles)
