Default Bassani x-pipe w/ Mac axlebacks

I've really been pleased with the Mac axleback sound, despite the drone at 2000 rpm, but I've been hearing good things about the Bassani catted x-pipe and finally had it installed last Tuesday. It was very cold at pickup, and I drove with the windows up on the 10 minute drive home. Definately a deeper tone, and definately louder. The drone is still there, and I was worried a bit I wouldn't like the sound.

After getting home the mechanic who did the install had emailed me to tell me the exhaust sounded awesome from the outside. Well, I had a chance to drive today in the 55 degree weather with a window down and awesome just doesn't cut it! Man this sounds GREAT!! Can't wait to buy some shorties next...

I'll post a video next weekend. Anybody know of a good Quicktime to Windows Media format program? Something that's free or cheap and doesn't have spyware installed along with it?

Installed my MAC's yesterday. Love the sound, and have yet to experience the drone. I have heard that between 1800 - 2200 the drone is teeth shattering, but I cannot find it!
It is amazing to me that this little 281 can produce such a wonderful big block rumble.

I've heard the characteristics of the drone are somewhat different between automatics and manuals (I have the latter and you didn't mention what you have), but essentially put it in 5th, get to 1800 rpm, and go uphill to put load on the car. And make sure the windows are up and the radio off. I bet an interesting droning "harmonic" will fill the drivers side of the cabin. Note that oddly enough passengers don't quite hear the drone, at least not as loudly. If you DON'T have it, consider yourself VERY lucky.

But those Macs do sound awesome, that's for sure.

i have bassani catted x and mufflers. i also get the drone around 2k rpm. i've heard other mufflers like corsa or magnaflow don't have the drone issue. i'm wondering if that's still true with the x in place though...any thoughts?

I read in Mustangs and Fast Fords that the shorties do absoutley nothing for performance. Opinions are like *ssholes everyone has one.

Yeah, I got that article marked (November, I think). But, a local fella here has the mac axleback, catted x pipe AND JBA shorties and the sound is unreal. It's up to the individual I guess.

Personally, I keep finding other uses for the $300 I'd set aside for shorties. One day I'll get there though...

Where's that video you promised? Did you feel any difference. I read today in either 5.0 or musclear mustangs&fast fords that it is the best x- pipe.
