Congrates on the new car. Go for the ride.
I did it with mine. I don't like to fly so me and a friend rented a car we drove out picked up the new stag and drove it back. Great trip and something you will always remember about your car.

I will never forget;
It was early Saturday morning in central Illinios. The sun was just coming up and we were driving east on rte150, a 2 lane road. The road would go striaight for about 3 or 4 miles then would turn slightly and go straight for another 3 or 4 miles, turn slightly again, etc.... It snowed a little the night before, nothing on the road, just a fresh 2-3 inches on the ground. A priceless scene of farms, silos, and open fields of fresh snow with the sun rise glistening across them. all this while listening to Neil Young " Harvest" CD.

Use the time to create special memories of you first experiance with your new Stang.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to try to make the best of the trip but I'm sure 20 hours of driving over 2 days will be a little taxing.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it going to cost to ship?
It was only gonna be about $850 to ship, but I really was just too excited, so I couldn't wait. I was going to have to pay for the shipping because I was already getting the vehicle at invoice so the dealership wasn't gonna take a loss.

Woohoo! Made it back and I couldn't be happier. It was a pretty long trip but well worth it and I can't believe the attention I've gotten so far. At breakfast yesterday morning in Trinidad, Co a woman walked up and said "That must be your Mustang out there" and proceeded to tell me how beautiful it was and how it made her think of when she was young and had to put sand bags in the back of her mustang to prevent tire spin. LOL well I want to thank everyone here, even though you didn't realize it, you guys and gals ultimatly convinced me to get the Stang, so Thanks!

Anyone tried that sand bag thing?

Welcome. I have done both, fly/drive and ship. If it ships for free, I would take that option.

Welcome and congrats on the new ride. I like it. I'm sure you missed much beautiful scenery trying to look at everything in the Stang. Nothing like a road trip to familliarize yourself with your machine.
