@makeitblack

what other manuals have you driven? Vibrations are normal on direct linkage shifters, you can add some rubber bushings if you want but that will also numb the overall shifting feel.

im guessing none of them are direct lnik?? Why would you go direct instead of how its "normally" done.. Forgive my ignorance.

I don't know about all of those, I was just pointing out that cars that have a direct linkage will be more susceptible to feeling drivetrain vibrations. Not all do, the genesis coupe has a lot of dampening but it also numbs the shifting feel. Other cars are linked to the transmission either by extra linkages or a cable that will also dampen the vibrations. The first time you see or feel the vibrations it doesn't seem normal but it is.

so here is what was in my 2010 GT from Roush, which the ford stock looked almost like, is this what the '11 look is like to, or have you seen and look different?

Incidentaly, are you MT guys getting a 2nd gear clunk sound at slow speeds? The techs at the local dealer said it was normal lash and that they should know since they just came from a transmission class on the new 2011 trannys, or so they claimed.

But then I didnt fall off the turnip truck yesterday.....
I also get more of a "mechanical" sound when throwing it into second gear. Dealer told me its fine and to check back in a couple of months to see what the Ford bulletin says. I think second gear just has a little more clunk to it when it drops into gear. As for vibration, i get SOME too when decelerating in 2nd or 3rd at mid to high rpm's, but nothing crazy....think its normal for the v6.

I haven't had a ford transmission that didn't have a bit of a clunk going into second. I'm not saying it is normal but I have just assumed that this is the nature of the beast. This 6-speed is significantly smoother than the 5-speed in my 2007 so I am just happy about that.

As for the vibration issue. I get some when letting it wind down in 2nd or 3rd, but it is no more than I would classify as normal. There is going to be some vibration in my experience, but if it is enough that it is bucking the whole car in 3rd I would take it in and have a tech ride with you. Or test drive another '11 V6 with a manual if they have one and see if it is the same.

hogasswild had a post on another thread and had something interesting that jumped out at me

"The powertrain ECU has been upgraded with a very aggressive deceleration cylinder shutoff for fuel economy, coupled with very rapid tip-in for street performance."

could this be the reason maybe we feel that unusual shutter, like a semi braking using the motor..just a thought, but could be a reason?

thats a better answer than i got from the ford dealer service,about 2,600-2,700 rpm is the vibration sweet spot for my car,maybe thats the fuel shut off point ??????

anyone ever get a handheld and a tune yet, maybe that would eliminate the shutter too?
