casting number
im looking to build a 351, which casting number do i want to look for?

If you want a slight advantage and are looking for OEM iron than the late sixties model blocks were good. Another good choice would be a pushrod Lightning block. I will hunt for casting numbers for you.

69 blocks are the best ^^^^^^
69-70 are the strongest and then 71-74 C9 (is 69) D0 is 70
rollers start in 94

what about aftermarket? does anyone make something like a carbon graphite, or anything to withstand more than a stock block?

you could get a DART block.... if you feel like spending $2500 on the block ONLY
