new Z304s on a hydralic flat tappet cam, block never been decked i measured and its like 8.175-8.250 is this right?

go for stock 351 flat tappet length and see where you are, you may have to go a little longer or shorter so plan on adjusting accordingly. if you really, really want to know - but a pushrod length checker for like 20 bucks and youj'll be good to go.

Is the Z-head the same height as the original GT40 heads? If it is the you could use the stock pushrods for a 93-95 Lightning. For some reason though I thought the new Z-head was different.

Buy a pushrod length checker...pushrod length is also dependent upon gasket thickness. A pushrod length checker will save you a lot of trips to the parts store.
