? about improved performace ?
I have a 2005 4.0L V6, my warranty runs out this summer and I am planning on doing some performance mods. After spending 4 grand on apperance improvements its time to make her run a little harder. A turbo/charger is gonna be just out of my price range so the plan is to go with a CAI, 70mm throttle body, under drive pully, true dual exhast, 4.10 gear and a computer tune. 175 rwhp and 205 rwtq seem to be stock numbers while 0-60 in 6.8 and a quarter mile time of 15.3 seconds are generally accepted times for a stock v6. What are the chances with the above mentioned mods that I can get my 4.0L Stang to 215 rwhp and 245 rwtq? And what kind of 0-60 and quarter mile times can I expect with these mods?
I may be wrong but people on this forum seem to say the throttle body isn't worth the money, it's basically just a paperweight, because the stock one isn't restrictive enough. Unless your pumping out some serious HP the throttle body won't do much, I mean I guess if your getting a CAI while your there it wouldn't be bad to replace but just a thought. Also same with the true duals because we have a V6 its more of an appearence mod than anything, you can get almost as much with the one exhaust. But that's just my uneducated opinion. Since youre on a budget may wanna save some money where you can.
It's is generally thought that the TB upgrade seems to be a waste of money. If turbo is "just out of your price reange" look into the X-charger from Explorer Express. It will give you better gains than the 215 RWHP (more like 270...without new gears/rear end mentioned in the video) with a bit lower price than the turbo setups I have researched.

To answer your posts perfectly, a CAI with a custom tune will put your right around your RWHP numbers of 215 for around $550-$600, depending on who you get your parts/tune from.
Justin at VMP, or Doug at B.A.M.Achips are both reputable. I got my tunes from Doug at B.A.M.A, I'm very happy.
I only suggested the X-charger because you stated that the turbo systems were just out of your price range. I think you will be happy with a CAI and tunes to reach your power goals, from either guys I mentioned.

Thanks for the input guys. I was planning on spending 2,000-2,500 on the mods, I will check out the Explorer X-Charger it may be a solid option. Sounds like it installs alot easier than other superchargers on the market. I've gotta get a little more computer savvy and get a picture of my Stang up. She is a beautiful Sonic Blue convertable pony with custom shelby stripes wrapped from bumper to bumper, a GT style grill, CDC style/roll bar, Xenon quarter scoops, hood pins, Incubus Velera rims, Riken Raptor tires, 3d carbon tonneau cover and chrome taillight bezels. BTW this is a sweet site for Mustang lovers.

VMP Tuning's power pack, I think, is right for you -- 210whp/247tq, $599. It's a tuner, CAI, and axleback, all of 30 minutes to install in your driveway with hand tools. (Maybe more on the muffler, depending on how easily the bolts come off) Extra mpg and sound is an added benefit
A Trac-Lok (ESSENTIAL) with 3.73s or 4.10s should be another ~$600 installed and will wake the hell up out of the car. I ran a similar combo (CAI, axleback,AlternativeAuto tune, TL, 3.73s)before starting my turbo prep, and it was just a blast!
And it'll help out with a supercharger install, too

sell the appearance stuff and buy a turbo[&:]
let her breath, intake and tune from VMP
full exhaust, with LTs, your choice of a cross over ( H, X, or True) and cats or no (pending state and emissions) and your choice of mufflers (listen to clips for what YOU like)
rear end 4.10s, Detroit TT, TA girdle, panhard reloction
X-charger, or 75 shot
TB = waste of money
could also work on suspention
