Sorry for being a newb with lots of questions, but if I were to change out the cylinder heads could I convert it from 2V to 4V? Also, what brand has the best heads? matter fact, is a SOHC 4.6L worth completely rebuilding/upgrading or should i just swap it out for a 03/04 cobra engine?

I am looking at the hole cobra engine for my mustang but I am not 100% yet. I might try to swap for the 5.4. but if I stay with the 4.6 I will be going cobra for sure.some of the older cobras a light waight block I think they switched in 2001 or so to cast iron.

I don't have a lot of experience with this but I have a bit of second hand info i can start you off with from these boards.

The general statement is you can go from SOHC to DOHC but it takes a lot of little parts to make it happen and a lot of cash.

A 03 crate motor is expensive.

You could forge your motor and get a supercharger and tune and have good hp for much cheaper than a crate motor.

As far as heads I have heard good things about VT and bad things about patriot heads on these boards.

I hope that helps a little bit. I am sure the knowledgable guys will help you out much more indepth and probally more accurately than myself as well.

2003 switched to cast iron. btw its too much of a bitch to cange from 2v to 4v your better off selling and buying a cobra
