Blinking O/D OFF light

First time I have come across this. I am cruising at about 60mph and the O/D OFF light comes on and starts blinking on and off. The performance seems to suffer a bit, but the transmission is driving/shifting fine. It makes me wonder if the car is in LIMP mode. Anyone had any experience with a flashing O/D light...could you point me in the right direction? Thanks all...

Doesn't the auto 99-04 come with the 4R70W trannies?

Only when you are in O/D I'm assuming? That's really weird...

Yea...it is a flashing light. Regardless of whether my O/D is on or not. I obviously have a transmission fault.

get it looked at if its switching between on and off it might mess something up

I used to have a Ford F150 that did the same thing. It is control module that had to be replaced on it. It didn't affect performance though. If I remember right the part for my truck was a couple hundred bucks.
