Exhaust installation

Exhaust installation
I recently decided to sell my firebird and I bought a 98' Mustang GT. Its all stock right now but I need to change that. I dont really have the money for a full cat back exhuast system. So for now I am just going to change out the mufflers for a little bit better of a sound. Ive decided to go with the Pypes Violator mufflers. I just looked under the car today to see how hard it would be to replace them. I thought that the stock mufflers would be clamped on but I saw that they were welded. I was just wondering about how much getting the new ones welded on would cost.

RE: Exhaust installation
Use a sawz-all to cut them off as close as you can to the inlet and outlets of the muffler. Get your new mufflers and buy some $2 clamps and clamp them on. Thats what I would do if I was looking to get by cheap. You can even use some exhaust tape to seal it if it leaks slightly. It will cost less than $10 to do yourse;f, but it will not be as good as getting them welded.

RE: Exhaust installation
Just thougt about something, if you get them welded the shop you take it to might not do it if your exhaust is all rusty, which I am sure it is if it is a 98. They don;t like to weld onto rusty crap, it doesn't hold as well.
