What sensor turns the fan on at a certain temp?
Just wondering what the name of the sensor is that turns the factory electric fan on at a certain temperature on a 97 GT? Is there any other ones that you can get that make it come on earlier or just the factory one? Cheapest place to find one?

the fan is turned on by the computer at a certain temperature, the coolant temp sensor is what it uses. although i've never heard of anyone that makes a kit, i know for my old camaro called a manual fan switch. basically, you flip a switch and turn the fan on whenever you want, but the factory settings remain in place for turning it on automatically. i'm sure you can do this to any car. try ebay, someone might sell a kit.

Its called the ECT sensor (engine coolant temp sensor) There are 2 sensors on your intake manifold. The left one is the sender for the guage and the right one is the sensor. If you want your car running cooler buy lower temp thermostat.

I already did the thermostat about a year ago. When I had my superchip on it, it stayed at about 1/4 and did not budge!! I have replaced them before, and it helped run cooler like when it was newer. Whats the easiest way to bypass, if I choose that route? Can you have it so it still comes on like factory, but you can turn it on manually if you prefer..........or is it only capable of running manual?
