Default Stupid quadrant question...

Anyone install a new clutch quadrant (any brand) without adding an adjustable cable or firewall adjuster? Everywhere I read they always go hand in hand, but I've never seen anything about anyone adding just the quadrant...

yeah it's kind of pointless, because the purpose of the two is to strengthen everything between your pedal and the clutch itself. You will run more risk of snapping the stock cable.

I bought the UPR $90 kit and so far am pretty pleased with it, but I think I have to adjust the cable or something because sometimes it feels great sometimes it doesn't.

ALSO... you can't just get a quadrant... because your stock cable itself is not adjustable. Aftermarket quadrants are not very adjustable if at all, like the stock ones are. The cable is usually adjustable at the end and also you can get the firewall adjuster

Well, the main reason I want the new quadrant is my stock one slips a tooth every once in a while, and I have to reach up under there and push it back up. I assume it would be covered under warranty, but I don't want them to just put another plastic one that will slip in its place. That and I don't care to have anyone screwing with my car unless absolutely necessary...

I'll probably look into the firewall adjuster, since don't most cables adjust at the tranny end?

yeah most aftermarket cables adjust at the tranny. The factory one has no adjustment, so if you get a new quadrant i would strongly reccomend a firewall adjuster. let me know how it goes for you... i think i may hav emy cable at too sharp of an angle somewhere because sometimes it's super stiff sometimes smooth??

I did a Summit one on my Fox...and besides being a total pain in the ****/knuckle buster, etc, I did not use a firewall adjuster and it was smooth as silk...just my $.02
