Default no cats mess up engine cpu?

hello guys. well..again, thanks to you I fix my heating prob with my engine. I Just got a 180 thermostat and the stang runs great. now, my next mod i want to remove the cats on my mustang v8 96 oem exhaust. however i read somewhere in this forums, i did a search but cant find it, that if you take all four cats..you will get the check engine light and had to reflash computer or something like that. i plan to take them probably next weekend so as long as the damn check engine light doesnt light up and everything else is okay..i plan to do it. thanks guys!!

The cats heat up the O2 sensors so they can give the computer the right readings. You remove the cats, they O2 sensors will not heat up enought to feed the right A/F ratio to the computer. A tuner can fix that.

Just get MIL elminators which are like 60 bucks, or you could get the best of both worlds with a handheld tuner. You could fix the check engine light, and also get a few extra ponies.

Its not the heat, it's the content of the exhaust that the O2s check. The sensors will throw a code with no cats because you don't have the cleaning effect the cats have anymore.

You can get MIL elminators or a tune to turn em off and they will not effect performance in any way after this.
