smell of antifreeze?

RE: smell of antifreeze?
When my heater core went I smelled the coolant, in and out of the car. I didn't have any moisture on the floor of the passenger side either.
However, I did get the hot ankle treatment when it finally went. YEEOUCHEE!! [:@] I was almost home but had to learn how to use the brake with my heel cocked over towards the accelerator.

RE: smell of antifreeze?
same thing happened to me
i changed thermostat to 180, overtorqed the metal cover to the Intake Manifold, and craaack. tried temp fixes left and right. always got bubbles out of the bolts, or even worse, between the seal, and its because the coolant travels through the hairline crack inside the manifold, the hairline crack seems small, but is deep, and hits the metal casing for the bolts that hold the metal cover (w/e that is that the hose connects to, dont know a proper name) there they travel up the threads of the bolts, and walla, out and around the washer. lol now thats some serious pressure huh?
anyways, i fixed my intake manifold myself, and i really have no prior experience, just a can do attitude, plus spending 500$-700$ to fix it was not an option.

RE: smell of antifreeze?
Yeap bad news is your OEM intake is likely cracked. Worse news is that Ford will not cover it as the program has expired. Good news is you can get one on ebay for around $220 shipped to your door and if your handy and own some basic tools can change it yourself. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest I'd rate the change over at a 3 for a mechanically inclined person and a 5 for someone with little experience but lots of patience. My intake will be here Thursday at a total cost of $217 from one of our dealership suppliers.

Currently karkraft isn't showing a listing for the older Mustangs. And don't let that $150 price tag fool you as it doesn't include any gaskets, thermostat, or updated alternator brackets. Might as well get the right kit the first time and not have to piece meal it. Check out Northern Auto for the best price I have found.
