DOES ANYONE BESIDES STEEDA SELL TIMING ADJUSTERS
I am looking for info on these adjusters. Is the stock timing 10* at WOT or is that base timing? More importantly does the adjuster change the timing across the rpm range? I have the Predator but it only changes the timing at WOT. Is 14* the amount of timing that the 4.6 responds best to on pump gasoline? The Steeda site has an icon to find out more info on their adjuster but I cannot access it with this webTV system I use to access the net. Midle aged and computer iliterate!
I am dissapointed as to what info I can acces with the Predator. Can't access the Gas Acceleration wot data group which contains the info that a dyno would use for tuning! thats what I want to see! There is a possibility the stock tune will access that info. I will try when the roads are not wet as it's raining here in central, NY now unless anyone knows that it will or won't? Thanks, mark

ORIGINAL: ben790450Like for ignition timing? Why not just get a tuner. . .
PS: What I am trying to find out is if the adjusters adjust the timing across the entire rpm range as that would be the most beneficial for both mileage and performance. The Predator's 10% is at WOT only. A custom tune would only modify the timing and AFR's. Having a bit of knowledge would enable a user of a tuner to do his own custom tuning! I sold my wideband when I parted out my turbo Talon as I didn't think I would need it but sure wish I had it now!

Just remember there is no solid advance. Mustang has varable timing. You can have anywhere from 15 to 30' depending on rpms and throttle position.

I have the Steeda TA installed and set at 14 total advance. The stock is 10 degrees. I was under the impression that the timing was not variable, as the '05 and later are.
Some tuners allow you to adjust timing across the curve to keep a/f safe. The TA is fixed.
BTW, although Steeda recommends 93 with 14 degrees, I run 89 and have never had an issue. I recommend them.
To answer your first question, I think BBK makes a TA also.
I was just reading something earlier that recommends against 160 stats. THe article was in Modified Mustangs and they recommended keeping it stock. However, I know several folks running 180s without any issues.
