RE: Cheapest place to purchase 410 gears
I bought my FRPP 4.10s from 50resto...they were $167, $198 tax and all. Apparently there are 2 versions of the FRPP gear, turns out I got the motive made ford racing gear. Be careful when your tight, you get what you pay for.
Mine doesn't whine, and they shouldn't if the installer takes their time to do it right, but the Ford Gear is easier apparently. The boxes are different as well, mine looked like this:

I made a post about the 2 versions of FRPP gear last week:

RE: Cheapest place to purchase 410 gears
It's not that Motive gears aren't any good, its just that if you pay the extra for Ford Racing, it would seem like that you would want an actual Ford gear. If I knew that there was a chance on getting motive's when I bought my FRPP's I would have just went with the "cheaper yet stouter than Ford" Richmond gears. Richmonds are very tough, they are so hard though, that even when installed right they seem to always make a very slight whine.. usually when letting off the gas at about 50 - 60 mph. When I say a slight whine I mean very slight, something that your AC fan would drown out.
Either gear will be fine as long as the installer does things right.
