idle/stall repost...last resort.
Everyone gave up on the last post i entered...i have a 98 mustang gt,auto, 74K. other than cold air intake and flowmasters is stock. im having some idling issues. i spent $30 bucks for a local shop to tell me to take it to ford, then i spent $80 for ford dealership to tell me they cant find the problem, but they could keep it another day for $230. Basically, im so frustrated im debating trading it in. My problems are idling and stalling. It is an automatic. Sometimes the car starts fine. other times it stalls after a second of running. sometimes it just wont start at all. Then theres the stalling during driving. foot can be on the gas, or not....it stalls out a few times a week under regular driving. It can stall out on the interstate at 70 mph (no power steering sucks at that speed). Then theres the idling. after a sucessful starting of the engine, it idles fine. sometimes if i rev it in park though, it dips down to 6000 rpms and back up to 8 grand or so. during driving is the most common problem, the car buckles between gears like its not sure what gear to be in. it stumbles or hesitates...whatever you want to call it. So far ive replaced the IAC because everyone and there mamma said that was definitly the issue. it still does all of the above. i used throttle body cleaner on the TB and cleaned the intake. ive replaced the plugs. The MAF looks clean, and im out of ideas. I dont believe it to be fuel filter related because sometimes i can start the car the first try, and never have a buckling problem during driving. if it was fuel filter, or injectors im pretty sure the symptoms wouldnt come and go. One question i have for you guys is this....is it possible to remove the EGR altogether to check if thats the problem? if so, how? will it hurt anything not to use the EGR?The car is not throwing any codes. if you can answer that, or have any other suggestions, please help....it may make the difference of me keeping this hunk of crap or trading it in. Thank you.
